Marcus Pedro

Marcus Pedro is an inspirational speaker and motivator. As a child, growing up on Moa Island in the Torres Strait, Marcus had no self-confidence. He didn’t believe in himself. He failed at primary

school, he failed at high school, and his friends called him a ‘duffer’,’ loser’, ‘no hoper’, someone who was never going to be anybody or go anywhere. The only thing he excelled at was sports. His first job as an apprentice panel-beater, spray-painter mechanic just added to his selfdoubt, when he quit using racism as an excuse to hide his embarrassment at failing his technical course.

Fortunately for Marcus he met people who encouraged him to challenge himself. He gained a sense of self by excelling in sport and martial arts. He went on to graduate in social justice before joining the Police Force. After four years in the Police Force, Marcus left to follow his passion working with and motivating young people. Working with First Contact, an Aboriginal Corporation for youth, he developed ‘The Warrior Program’ and ‘Dance Combat’ a productive way to deal with the challenges of everyday life. Marcus had found his purpose in life inspiring and empowering others to achieve their dreams. Through the sharing of his simple but compelling story and the wisdom of his three warriors, who have guided him through his own personal challenges, Marcus teaches self confidence, self control and self respect. As one of Australia’s inspirational speakers he now shares his philosophy of his three warriors to people from all walks of life.
