Pete Wargent used shares, index funds and investment property to become a millionaire at the age of 33 and quit fulltime work. His new book is a detailed plan for achieving financial freedom at any age by taking control of your finances and implementing a holistic financial strategy.

The global financial crisis has seen us living through times of great volatility and uncertainty. Many people have been forced to endure periods of unemployment, housing has become almost unaffordable and it seems that the concept of a job for life is a thing of the past. It is more important than ever that we create a sustainable lifestyle and have a financial plan that is not totally reliant on a job and a salary.

Get a Financial Grip looks at the psychology and mindset of success as well as looking at the asset classes that can be used to attain the leverage and returns to achieve financial goals. The author presents a comprehensive, but easy to understand plan for building and balancing a portfolio for generating wealth through compound growth. It shows how your money can work for you and give you the best odds of breaking the link between work and income.

This is not just another text on financial and investment theory, it is a practical, specific and life-changing plan to propel your finances to a level you may never have believed possible. It’s a simple plan for achieving financial freedom; offering you the chance to live the life you choose.

I have read a lot of property and finance related books over the years and the one thing that grabbed me instantly about ‘Get a Financial Grip’ is that it’s written specifically for Australians. Why was this big deal for me? Well, when 9 out of 10 books on the topic of finance and property are written by American’s, it is refreshing to find an author who caters for the market I am investing in. Not to mention the fact that every strategy Pete writes about has been tried and tested by the man himself. ‘1192’ is a fantastic, easy to read book which gives a step by step plan to achieving financial freedom, a feat accomplished by Pete at the age of 33.

“Pete, Really enjoyed your book, I was excited about some of your ideas…there were times when I was really hooked and could not put your book down or sleep. I brought some of your thoughts up with a group of friends…with some good discussion. Anyway, I now have to work on my better half and have a real good crack and I WILL. Would love to read any other thoughts you have regarding trends. ” – AC, Moranbah

It is not only important to have a book on the subject of attaining financial freedom that actually works [and not impracticable], it is also imperative that it is relevant to Australians when being sold in Australia. This book does exactly that! I’ve had the privilege of speaking to the man online and you can instantly tell Pete is genuine in his approach to help those willing to learn from him. I hope you enjoy reading this book as much as I continue to over and over again.

With this book – it is possible and attainable! I have read hundreds of books on the subject and I can say with great confidence this is the best book! This book has really changed the way I think about money and investing. After I read the first chapter of Get a Financial Grip, I instantly re-evaluated my personal cash flow situation. Although I’m a good saver and I want to own my first property within two years, Pete’s book got me researching about index funds and brushing up on my knowledge of ratio analysis. A truly brilliant read.

Of the hundreds of books I’ve read on share and property investing, Peter Wargent’s book successfully combines both asset classes into a workable and successful investing strategy, like no other investment book which I’ve read so far has managed to do. It’s relevant to the Australian market and addresses important issues such as valuing assets, growth as a wealth builder, investor psychology, the downside of negative gearing when cashflow decreases, adapting successful models to suit one’s own personality. Many authors of investment literature fail to acknowledge other authors, as if the words contained in their own book sprang forth from pure personal inspiration. For this reason, it’s refreshing to find a comprehensive Reference section crediting other works on the subject, and I also appreciate the inclusion of Chapter 16, Life’s Lessons, Life’s obstacles as a reality check on our health and wellbeing, as integral pieces of the investing puzzle. Simple? Yes. Easy? No. But with discipline comes satisfaction.

Get a Financial Grip is not like any book I’ve read. It shows that anyone with a strong determination and a few simple instructions as outlined by Pete can reach financial indepence. I certainly am on my way and appreciate that Pete’s self diclosure as well as his ‘no bull’ approach in an area usually filled with jargon and complex terms. Pete has an open and easy to read style and his attitude is absolutely brilliant! Thanx and best of everything. Monica St James

Finding and reading the book was quite timely for me. I was in the process of reviewing my entire financial standing and the contents of the book were very helpful in clarifying my thoughts and making informed decisions on what options to take. Most investors have read many books and attended many seminars and are often highly educated these days, I found this book particularly useful as it covers the complete investment spectrum in a plain English way and has now become a handy reference for me in all things financial. It was also my first time downloading an e-book, so I am particularly chuffed about the powerful search feature that comes along with it.

I have read many financial investment books over the years but found Petes book to be one of the best. Simply laid out and written in a language that makes it easy for all to understand. It was also specific, which helped me put a plan in place for my own financial future. I recommended this book to my children and would recommend it to anyone who is remotely interested in providing for their future. Ash

It’s so good to read such an easy to understand book on Australian property, especially one that caters specifically to the Sydney market. I’d describe myself as a member of Peter’s target audience – I found his advice & suggestions to be right on track with where I want to go in regards to my financial, & especially property, future. If you’re at the stage of making decisions for your financial well being, read this book!

Pete clearly knows his stuff. Pete explained some clear principles on which I can build to improve my financial state. This book isn’t about getting out of debt, it’s about building wealth and becoming financially free. This isn’t some get rich quick guide, it’s focus is creating a financial plan and applying it. The ideas presented will allow you to build your wealth slowly, but surely, over a period of time that suits your goals. Pete has shown that you don’t have to be rich to retire, you just have to have some form of income (other than working a day job) that meets your expenses. This income will work for you regardless of what you have planned for the day. Pete comes across as a guy who cares about money, but also cares about people. I don’t know what he has planned for the next few years, but if he writes another book then count me in!

The book is focused on using property and shares amongst other assets to transition out of full-time work and be able to allocate more time to things you’d rather be doing. We found GAFG very enlightening. My family has been in a low income cycle for a few generations now and so it was very liberating to be empowered with a logical and potentially achievable financial plan. I had no clue about money prior. Thank you for writing so succinctly on a topic that can be confusing and overwhelming for people like myself.

This is one of the most practical books on financial freedom within Australian scenario. This book covers foundations and strategies of investing in Australian assets both property and shares. I’d recommend anyone either beginner or seasoned investors to grab knowledge and wisdom in Pete’s books and you won’t be disappointed!!!
