With three author and illustrator dream teams nominated we are feeling very excited and very proud. Knowing how hard the authors and illustrators have worked to create some really wonderful books it is perfect to see their much loved titles and series recognised. Books that have been shortlisted are:
Indigenous Children: Dreaming Soldiers by Catherine Bauer, illustrated by Shane McGrath
Birth to three years category: Reece Give Me Some Peace by Sonia Bestulic, illustrated by Nancy Bevington
Eight to 10 years: Tommy Bell Bushranger Boy, The Runaway by Jane Smith, illustrated by Pat Kan
Jane and Pat have had recognition with this wonderful series previously with the first book in the Tommy Bell series ‘Shoot-out at the Rock’ a “CBCA Book of the Year Awards – 2017 Notable”
The Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Awards aim to promote children’s books as literacy tools, as well as raising awareness of the role of speech pathologists play in helping children develop language and literacy skills.
