Alan Reed served in the RAAF between June 1952 and November 1990, rising from the rank of Aircraftman 2 to Air Vice-Marshal. In that time he
flew a variety of aircraft types, with the distinction of being the only RAAF pilot to fly the Lincoln, Canberra F-4 Phantom and F-111 in RAAF service.
Alan passed away in July 2021.

This book has been compiled by Group Captain David Fredericks of History and Heritage Branch – Air Force. It draws upon content from AVM Reed’s original autobiography entitled Invited to a War, with additional content and imagery to illustrate AVM Reed’s amazing life.
