  1. A humorous, feel-good deep dive into the most mysterious force in the world: love.

From the famous matchmaking festival of Lisdoonvarna to a groundbreaking ‘80s dating show and the chaos of reality TV, Rachel Jayne Cassidy takes us on a delightful odyssey across the globe and across decades to explore what makes love tick.

With wisdom, warmth and wit, this book explores age-old questions such as: How do matchmakers make a match? What makes a relationship last? What draws us to one person over another? And what really happens after the cameras stop rolling for dating show contestants?

As a 20-something, it’s hard not to feel a little cynical about love these days. Half my friends are getting left on ‘read’ on dating apps, and the other half have deleted them entirely, resigned to a future alone with thirty cats!

This book is a bright flame in the gloom and doom of modern romance — a much-needed reminder that we’re not alone in our search for connection, and that love, once found, is a force worth holding onto. With insights from a stellar cast of Aussie icons (hi, Greg Evans!), plus heartwarming stories from around the world, Perfectly Matched is sure to make you laugh, smile, and maybe even finally text your crush.

  2. As a single 23-year-old woman living in a digitised world, it often feels as if we are rapidly losing our ability to make a real connection to the throes of online dating. Perfectly Matched is a heartwarming read that serves as a hopeful reminder that it will all work out. In Perfectly Matched, you embark on a journey across the globe – alongside Rachel Jayne’s captivating character – reading stories of couples finding love young, old, online, in-person, and sometimes, even in unconventional ways. It is these stories and their different perspectives of love, matchmaking, and dating, that have helped reinvigorate the hopeless romantic in me. I felt as if I got to know each character, as they allow readers into the most precious and personal details of their lives, which Rachel Jayne handles and conveys with such care, and love of her own. Putting the book down, I truly feel that love can be found anytime, and anywhere, but only if we are open to it.

  3. Such a great book. Will reread

  4. As a young person in my 20s, I found Perfectly Matched to be the perfect comfort read. It’s uplifting, with real people you can’t help but connect with, and explores a truly fascinating topic; finding and nurturing romantic love. As a huge fan of The Farmer Wants a Wife and MAFS, I loved diving into stories featuring couples from these shows who truly succeeded. It’s the kind of book you can enjoy at your own pace, picking it up throughout the day to get lost in these diverse, real-life love stories. Each page left me feeling hopeful and touched by the genuine connections shared.

  5. Love this book – it’s totally on my best book to gift to everyone I know. AND I learnt so much booking a trip to Ireland for the matchmaking festival sounds way more fun then swiping!

  6. A really insightful and fun read!

  7. Perfectly Matched is a heartwarming celebration of love in all its forms. It’s a book made not just for couples, but also for singles like me who are still searching and still hopeful. As someone who’s drawn inspiration from my parents’ love story, I found new layers of hope in the beautiful, real-life romances Rachel Jayne has gathered here. From blind dates to global matchmakers, each story reminded me that love can happen in the most unexpected ways — and that it’s never too late to find your perfect match. This book is more than just entertaining; it’s uplifting, inspiring, and a reminder that my love story is still unfolding.

  8. Perfectly Matched was such an enjoyable read and I can see how it could reinvigorate any marriage with the many varied stories of people’s experiences. This is a must read for anyone looking for love.

  9. The author takes you on an adventure and you feel like you are right there with her. I learnt so much about the Lisdoonvana singles festival in Ireland and the stories about the couples in love melted my heart. They should make this book into a movie

  10. I absolutely loved Perfectly Matched. Rachel Jayne Cassidy brings the romance into sharp focus, showing how love often arrives just when someone is ready—or at a surprising moment. From TV hosts and radio personalities, to “Farmer Wants a Wife” contestants and psychologists, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all to love here. She dives deep into all aspects of love, giving you trust and hope that it will find you when you’re ready for it. A heartfelt, uplifting read that felt both fun and meaningful.

  11. Perfectly Matched by Rachel Jayne Cassidy explores the wonders of love, fate and matchmaking, interviewing a range of people that have experienced the power of love. Readers journey through the lives of international matchmakers to reality-show celebrities, learning what it takes to find the perfect match. From speed-dating and matchmaking shows to Tinder and happenchance encounters, Perfectly Matched is an enchanting novel for anyone who has or wants to encounter the delightful feeling of love.

  12. With a balance between storytelling and reflection, Perfectly Matched is a relatable and uplifting exploration of finding companionship. As someone who has read their fair share of romance novels, I found it refreshing to read real stories that weren’t simply a collection of tropes and romance ‘fluff’. Rachel Jayne Cassidy examines the traditions, coincidences, and personal journeys that shape modern matchmaking through interviews and anecdotes from professional matchmakers to reality show contestants. Perfectly Matched is a charming reflection on the search for a universal human experience: Love.

  13. Perfectly Matched is a warm and comforting read that gently moves between laughter and reflection. It’s the kind of book that makes you smile one moment and quietly think the next. I especially loved the way the author places herself within the narrative—observing, listening, and guiding us through these stories with a subtle, intimate presence. Her perspective feels almost cinematic, as if you’re sitting beside her at a café, watching people pass by and wondering about their lives and love.

  14. In this day and age, where love often seems different from what it once was, many of us find ourselves asking: “Will I ever experience that kind of love? Will I ever find my soulmate? Will I ever have my own perfect love story?” As Ann says in the book, “Everybody wants to be with someone, and sometimes they don’t know who they want to be with.”

Perfectly Matched is a book filled with inspiring stories of couples sharing their life’s adventures in the game of love. Each story offers a unique perspective on relationships, highlighting the joys, challenges, and commitment that help couples build lasting connections.

What makes this book particularly engaging is the variety of experiences shared, showing that no two relationships are exactly alike. The stories are heartfelt and relatable, reminding us that love can be found and nurtured in many different ways.

Steve and Nancy’s story was one of the ones I found especially touching. When asked about the secret to a successful marriage, Nancy said, “A successful marriage is about never giving up,” while Steve simply said, “Stay friends.” Their answers made me reflect on what has kept my own parents together over the years and appreciate the effort, patience, and friendship that go into maintaining a lasting relationship.

Whether you are in a relationship or simply enjoy reading uplifting real-life stories, Perfectly Matched is an enjoyable and encouraging read. No matter your age or current circumstances, you’ll find a story that resonates with you.

  15. If your search for love stories still stops in the romantic fiction section of the bookstore, it’s time to broaden your search. Because Rachel Jayne Cassidy’s Perfectly Matched tells us that the real world we’re trying to escape through fictional books, can also be the most romantic site for love stories to happen.

With a wit that colours the narrative without tipping into sentimentality, Rachel Jayne takes us on a journey around the world. What makes her love-hunting unique is that she doesn’t stop her search at conventional meet-cutes around the city, but jumps straight into the pools made for love. With a confidence that can only come from someone with a genuine belief in love, Rachel Jayne brings out the best stories out of couples old and new, and skilfully weaves through matchmaking festivals around Europe before stealing a peek behind the set of reality love TV.

Each story is told in first-person, giving us an exclusive look with a feeling like sitting down with an old friend over coffee. And hearing about love from famous matchmakers at the Lisdoonvarna festivals or the voice of Perfect Match’s Dexter the Robot will make even someone most cynical of love believe they can be a main character in their own love story.

It is so easy these days to not only be desensitised to love but also too afraid of wanting it. As I comb through the stories in Perfectly Matched, it is the realisation that no one is ‘destined to be alone,’ and that love will always be waiting for us out there, that will stay with me for a long time.
